The Jockey...it can jump on you and take over your movements.
Lets say you are near a ledge when he grabs you. He will make you walk off of it lol
Or walk into a horde... boomer, acid, fire or even run away from the group to single him out even more. Sounds like a great SI

Looks interesting, but all WIDE open. No real feeling of the creeps. Also, that kid talking is SOOO annoying!!! ;)

I almost couldn't stand to watch it, whatwith all the "axing" of questions. Sheesh he sounded like a little kid seeing a video game for the first time ever.
It doesn't look any different whatsoever from L4D1. More like L4D1.5 or even L4D1.25. Don't see why this has to be a new game to drop $50/$60 on.

Because it is for the XBOX......
L4D1 was barely a game itself. There needs to be WAY more content. If they made 15 maps/scenes and added another 10 zombie types then sure L4D2 might be something to look at. Otherwise back to TF2.

I think you are exaggerating a bit there Cor, but I do agree with you.
A few more boards, maybe with a few more zombies or at least zombie types that dod not all LOOK the same (why would all hunters wear a hoodie?) would have made it feel more complete.
It was still a great game, and unfortunate that Valve ran corporate with it.
I say it is a shame, but I do not think it was stupid by any means. I think they will make a lot of money with this, and I also think taht each game is a damn site better than any Madden incarnation!!! ;)

Too bad they will not make as much oney off of L4D2 as they think. I pre-ordered L4D at $45.99, and 7 of my friends bought it from me harping on them and telling them how good of a game it is. Now, with word of mouth, they probably won't drop the money for #2 and I am sure not giving Valve more than $20 for #2. :p

Meh. I am not going to Boycott is. I will just wait until it gets cheaper, or they lower the price for Steam players who have the first one.
The key is not complete rejection, but direction. If they get the message that people WILL buy it if they do this and that, and they can make MORE money by doing so, they will do it.
Otherwise, if they still make good games and still earn money by doing so (and would earn less if they did it the way WE wanted them to), where would the motivation be?
I am not saying I agree with what they are doing, not by a longshot, but I can see why.

Well... the demo came out the other day and so I decided to pre-order the game via Steam.
After playing the demo for a few hours, my overall impression is...
... its not done.
It feels like the demo was rushed out the door and to market. The sound is tinny, NPC movements (and all movements) lack the fluidity of the first game. You can really hear the difference in sound quality when some of the sounds from the first game (the Smoker, for instance) and compare it to the new female boomer, jockey, etc.
Its a good second or third beta but if this demo represents the look, sound and feel of the final game I'm gonna regret giving in to temptation and buying it last night.

you make it sound like the original l4d was/is complete

Comparatively, it is. IMO
Again, this is just the demo though.

Left 4 dead still has issues and bugs, plus the griefer movemnets kill the multiplayer perspective. Since they refuse to address that and the lack of more than 4 campaigns, they can take L4D2 and stick it. If they would give even half the effort they have given to TF2, then there would be no issue with either versions.
I think valve should look at releasing a game for full price and then have $5-$20 add-on packages, so they can cover the costs of making additional content. But $50 for L4D2? not! :p

I am with you, but I wonder if L4D2 is a different engine and a whole different script/model set....
I have more sympathy for them if that were the case. the problem is, I don;t think it is.
I think they went the console route and what we are seeing is the end result. Games released a bit ahead of schedule and renewed as a self contained (one disk) unit that can be sold (ES style) at full price.
Again. $30 and I would have gotten it (with proof of L4D), but $45? That is just being greedy....

My niece, who plays L4D on my computer, and I have both played the L4D2 demo and have not been impressed.
The game speed seems to be turned up, or is it just me? reminds me of UT99 where you can turn the game speed up to 130%.
My niece thinks the zombies and survivors look cartoonish.
I like the new weapons and that the tank moves on to the next survior after knocking one of the other ones down. :)
Also, the bots are dumber than the 1st! When we ran into the tank, they just stood there and didn't even try to run away from the tank.
Not worth more than $20.

I completely agree with you on all that.
The zombies in the game don't stride when they're running at you. They sort of wobble back and forth on their feet as they are moving, and you're right it makes them look like the game speed has been cranked. It looks stupid and cartoonish.

the zombies seem to have a vague black ink outline around them too.
Similar to cell shading.
Its the same damn engine, the same damn game, but modified SI + new SI.
Oh yeah... and its geared for consoles.

gotta admit, the charger is very fun to play with.
Anyone would think he needs to charge up and give himself away like the hunter, but no.
right off the bat! Spawn behind them and attack. They cant stop you!
Lots of narrow hallways to get them all in. It's almost like bowling. You grab one and knock the other pins out of the way.

Well, I turned down the video settings a bit and turned off v-sync and the game frankly looks a lot better.
I just played for a few hours and had a good time. Maybe it doesn't suck so bad. (Except for the music.. gawd.)

I have been getting invites from friends that want me to play L4D2. I might have to change my steam name to "L4D2 Sucks", just so people will stop inviting me to a game I don't have. ;)
Maybe when Valve is willing to part with it for $20 I will buy it, but by then, L4D3 will be out! :p

I would have to turn my music setting off! I don't like the music. Sort of reminds me of redneck rampage! :D

ok, i gotta admit, i fell in love with the charger last night.
It was the first map on Dead Center and everyone was in the hotel.
They were in a room where they had to jump through a window to walk on the ledge.
I spawn as the charger and rush them. In the process, i grabbed one of the survivors and ran right out the window, off of the building for an instakill! Cant even defib her because she is off the map.
The impact from the initial rush also knocked one other person out of the window and was hanging.
The charger imo is better than the hunter
