nope, but a change in scenery is always good.

as long as you stay away from northern NJ you're fine. generally, majority of the NJ folks that live up north are complete douchebags. just look at Ninjahedge ;)

shifty's right, my ex-hubby was from northern nj and douchebag doesn't even begin to describe it.... :( That's not to say NH is that way too... he's prbly okay!! :p:D:cool:

My brother lives in central nj, schooley mountain area. Where he lives is beautiful!!! Not near much of anything though. He has to travel pretty far to get groceries, there are no malls etc. It depends what you're looking for ten.

If you give me the name of a town, I could ask him what it's like there. His wife has been from the area her whole life. I'm pretty sure they'd know where the action is. (if there is any) They live on the mountain and have deer and bear and all sorts of critters wandering into their yard. If you'd find that exciting, shooley mountain is for you!!! :)

OMG! That's right! I forgot about the part where you'll have to learn a whole new language! I understand some New Jersey, but I'm not really fluent in it... strange language that! :p

Trenton is OK in itself, and Princeton is not bad either, but when you get to central Jersey, you are industrial park land.

You really need to look for a place to live that you can commute to work easily and, for you, has a bar you can walk to.

For some strange reason, those places seem to cost more than others! ;)

I am now in Hoboken, FAR from Trenton, but there might be some nice places around if you look hard enough. Come up with some names and maybe I can get some info from my wife (she looks at real estate a lot...)

You use "img" in the box thingy's "" no quote marks, at the begining, and at the end it's ""

You post the url between the commands like so. http://www.myunreal.com/picture.php?albumid=2&pictureid=5

Ninjahedge, you would make an excellent lumberjack, or perhaps Billy Mays's younger brother.

Heh, Freight, I mean the one where the thumbnail appears on theer since I am using MyU to store the pic in the first place... I don't want a huge image like that ruining the thread itself, if people want to see it, they can click on the thumbnail....you know?

(I knew about teh img tags ya numbnut!! how do you think I was able to get all my other images up there!!! ;) I just need to know how to do the more fancy schtuff!)

trenton is nice, i have an in-law aunt and uncle i really like that are from trenton. i mean, they're a little more laid back and not snatch-hunters like you, but it's a really nice place.

he's much less cro-magnon looking in person without the facial hair. but then his lips make him look like that guy Rudy from the Fat Albert cartoon. the facial hair is a good change, NH

Hedge - right-click the thumbnail and put that URL into the IMG tag.

http://www.myunreal.com/picture.php?pictureid=5&albumid=2&dl=1239197686&thumb=1

Meanwhile, I edited FL's post to reduce to thumbnail, because the sheer size of that image was jacking up the tables in the thread.

I seem to remember there was a way to almost make a subsection that would have a clickable thumbnail in it. Kicker used it quite a few times. It almost looked like a quote window.

Yeah, the hair was grown about thanksgiving when one of the VP's here kept calling me "Chris".

Chris is the 24-25 year old engineer we have working here. Now that does not sound that bad until you realize that you get RESPECT with age in this profession. At 38, I did not want to be confused, by my bosses, with a 25 year old!

BTW, the shots in the album are at 50% resolution!!! ;)

I'm not sure how it is on these forums, but on a lot of other forums you can use spoiler tags and it will place the text inside a small quote-like box that's expandable. Most people use it for pictures so you can expand it and then collapse it back to just a button.

Just post it as an attachment to the post, and it will pop up in an extra window.

Or you can put it in an IMG tag (with thumbnal URL) and wrap that in a URL tag (with the full-size photo URL) and that will let you click through.

Princeton is nice. South Jersey is fun but far away from NYC. But close to Philly

What town is the job in? How much are you willing to travel to get to work every day? :o I have about a ten-fifteen minute commute and am thinking about moving closer.... :p

No.

I really do not like NB.

Suburbia to the max. I have had several friends live there. The area is nice, mind you, but also mind-numbingly boring.

And all your malls are on the highway!!! ;)

The only solution is to Google Earth it, then look on Real Estate sections of websites, and start tooling around forums like city-data.com

i may have another offer near stamford CT, i need to see if he can match the offer...

i think i would like CT better, its close to boston, stamford might be fun

Ninjahedge

Stamford is, I think, a bit nicer, but you are still stuck in Suburbia.....

It is actually still closer to NYC along the Merrit than Boston. (I think it would take 45 minutes to get to NYC on an average day, but 2:30 to get to Boston.... My guess).

They may be a little lead-footed estimates there. You may want to G-map it! ;)

You need to look it up, there MAY be areas a bit further away from your job that are MUCH better to live in (there is a VERY expensive area of CT that has a really nice downtown, but lets put it this way. Macy's is considered a 99¢ store there!!!)

im single and would prefer to live in a city than the suburbs, i want to be able to walk to bars or have a short drive any way lol, i am sure i will be staying local when i go out at nite, i wont be able to drive an hour just to hit a pub, boston being 2.5 hrs away means that i will be able to get home for the holidays and sober up on the drive home

Ninjahedge
04-10-2009, 12:32 AM
You know that sounds like hell when you say that!!!

(You don't sober up driving you domb fack!!!!)

Look around. Find a few more names... Grenwich (Pronounced grennich) is the rich spot I was talking about.

As for Mid Jersey, try Red Bank, Monclair, and Westfield. Summit was so-so. (Nice LOOKING town center, but it was dead when we went, YMMV).

Take a look for yourself. Also see which ones might be on the same rail line that goes to the city. Warning though, sometimes they only go one way!
