Could be.....reminds me of a brick wall, offset. But why every 10 to 12 lines. Pause the vid clip and go frame by frame you will see it.

Those are interlace lines. They are in the video all the time but they are MORE noticible in computer and in high action and in certain file format. You won't notice it when you watch it on TV. If you do notice them on TV, you must have done something wrong during the compiling process. If you want to be picky, you can use the de-interlace option while recompiling. However, you cannot create what's not there. The de-interlace process often soften up the picture from the mathemetical process. If you watch it on TV, you'll notice that the result file is not as sharp as the original. Less is more. [This message has been edited by Wes (edited 12-13-2001).] IP: Logged |

Well interlace never gave me this much of a problem doin Divx. What program did you use to make that jpg or bmp? I tried a couple and none worked.I guess what I really want is dor DVD crap to come down in price so I can get the really good quality. Oh and have you ever messed with making menus in Nero?? ------------------ A fool thinks he's a wise man, A wise man knows he's a fool IP: Logged |

2 hours Divx is about 600MB. 2 hours SVCD is about 2GB. Divx simply doesn't have as much information as SVCD. That's why the fine "lines" along with a lot of detail simply disappeared.Even if you do DVD, those lines will still there. Actually, those lines will be even sharper.

IF I watch the same episode on the Tyconverted MPG, pause and go through frame by frame the lines are not there. The quality you can get from the Tivo file is higher than I thought it would be. But quality you get from SVCD and VCD is just disapointing. The interlace lines start when you go into DVDtoAvi. Which gives me hope that there is something wrong in the process.IF I take a shot of that same frame from the Tyconverted mpg the lines would not be that way. Acually I tried and none of the programs worked. hehe ------------------ A fool thinks he's a wise man, A wise man knows he's a fool IP: Logged |

Tyconverted MPG is streaming MPeg. The regular Mpeg construct frame by frame for you to watch. Therefore, you see EXACTLY what's in the picture.Anyway, one way or the other, you won't see any different on TV about the interlace line. BTW, with the new TivoWeb, I can set the Tivo to record video file exactly as the SVCD spec. No need to go through the 8 hours recompile any more. The quality is extrememly good.

Just imagine using TivoApp to extract out a video. And the video IS already in SVCD format. No need to retouch. I already have it running.

Software upgrade.1. Make sure you don't have httpd-tt or httpd running. 2. Install the new httpd-tt package and its modules using FTP 3. chmod +x * for all files (including the modules) 4. test if the new webserver runs 5. Then edit some resources (i'll let you know the detail of this part after you get the new web server running) Let I mention at the beginning. ExtractStream is an all new area. Things will get better and there are software upgrade again and again. Fun, isn't it. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/Forum6/HTML/009622.html

OK, I remounted the directory to be read and write. But I cant get the files with the extension .css or the folder modules to transfer over. I also tried to get the FTP program to just make a folder and it wouldnt.Oh yes, i did tell winzip to turn off 'Smart CR/LF Conversion'. ------------------ A fool thinks he's a wise man, A wise man knows he's a fool IP: Logged |

It doesn't sound right. You shouldn't have any problem transferring any kind of files over. Where did you transfer the files over? I put all the files into /hack/bin and the module files in /hack/bin/modulesIP: Logged |

What kinda FTP program are you using? Try ftp://192.168.x.x using your web browser and see if you can drag and drop.

Make sure the module files are in the modules directory or other functions may not work.Under Resource Editor, Bitrates, RecordQualityMedium 75 DBSMediumVBRBitrate 2200000 DBSMediumMAXBitrate 2400000 DBSMediumResolution 2 Do the same for CATV because Tivo may not know you're using Satellite or Cable. Make sure hit ENTER after entering EACH number. The web interface can only process ONE number at a time. I also did the same change for AltBitRate. I'm not sure if I need it, but just to be on the safe side. When you're done, restart Tivo. All Medium Quality recording is now 480x480 with MaxBitrate of 2400k.
